Our Basque Country chums have held a second Master System Tournament! This is the report from Egoitz Campo – if you’re reading this from the Basque country and are interested in joining the next one, email him at campo_16*at*msn.com!
On Tuesday 1st of October, Euskal-Retro organized the II. Basque Country Sega Master System Championship. This has been the second tournament we have done with this cool Sega console. 7 enthusiastic players gathered in “Café Berria”in Santuxu (Bilbao-Basque Country). We went up to the second floor of the bar, and after playing on the Intellivision we plugged in the Master System and played three games: Space Harrier, Fantasy Zone and Super Monaco GP.
First we played a classic game, Space Harrier. The person who advanced the furthest and got the most points won. We all made bad scores, so we have to practice a bit more! Then we continued with a legendary Master System game; Fantasy Zone, a really fun and difficult game where we have to destroy everything that comes near us with our round space ship. It’s very colorful! Finally, we put on Super Monaco GP, a good formula one game where Egoitz and Joseba were the fastest to go around the Brazilian circuit.
In the end Egoitz got the highest score of the tournament, but that was not the most important thing. Everyone had a good time and asked me to continue doing Master System tournaments. The idea is to organize the third tournament of this type in April 2025, if all goes well. Here are the results:
